York Makers Winter Fair - Hippystitch

It's almost that time of year again when the York Makers Winter Fair puts in an appearance to make your Christmas shopping easy. Pop the date in your diary - Saturday 22 November 2025 at Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, York, YO23 1BW from 10am to 4pm. Expect to find me there along with other stallholders who will be selling candles, terrazzo homeware, textiles and clothing, leather goods, prints and cards, paintings, stained glass, wooden items, felted creations, paper and book art, ceramics and jewellery of all sorts. This year we have the added bonus of a cafe run by Planet Food. It'll be a great event to start your Christmas shopping or to treat yourself.

I love searching out interesting fabric and buttons and turning them into jewellery.  So, as well as my fabric necklaces and button bracelets (see top image), I shall have lots of new brooches.  Some are colourful (above) or vintage & modern...

Craft-y-Crawl - Sunday 18 November 2018

York Makers Spring Fair - Saturday 21 April 2018

You may have seen this fab illustration by Lucy Monkman on social media.  It represents the lovely handmade treats that will be available at the York Makers Spring Fair this Saturday 21 April 2018. Doors open at Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, York, YO23 1BW at 10am and entry is free.

Craft-y-Crawl - Sunday 27 November 2016


It's that time of year when thoughts turn to Christmas shopping - well, there is only about a month to go! So I thought I'd tell you about an event I'm involved in that could solve all your Christmas shopping worries.  On Sunday 27 November 2016 from 12 to 4pm in the South Bank area of York, a Craft-y-Crawl has been organised by Planet South Bank.

Makers will be exhibiting and selling crafts of all types in their own homes. It's a great way to explore the wealth of creative talent in the South Bank area of York, support independent businesses, makers and hobby groups and get your Christmas gift shopping done. You're sure to find unique pieces - and meet some lovely locals!

"How to..." at the new Open Shop in York



If you haven't visited the Open Shop in New Earswick, York then it's time to take a look.  It's a place where you can meet up, share your ideas, take part in Trade Schools, Public Office sessions, attend workshops or just pop in for a cup of tea.  All events are free to attend (Trade Schools work on barter) and have been created with local people for local people.  To find out more about all the events on offer, click here.

10:00 to 12:00 Yarnstorming with Hippystitch
Join Hippystitch and have a go at knitting, finger knitting, arm knitting, pompom making and stitching to create a display for the Open Shop.





12:00 to 14:00 Card Making with Lucy Monkman
Lucy will be holding a fun card making workshop for adults and children


Nicola from O'Crumbs will also be there to share her baking tips.
